BTC SOPR Suggests Mild Losses Realization Without Capitulation

Based on the market data, Bitcoin’s ($BTC) short-term Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) has hit the 0.995 mark. In this respect, the short-term market members are realizing slight losses, but they are still far from entering a complete panic zone. Particularly, panic phases take place when SOPR plunges below the 0.95 mark. Such a drop usually leads to massive capitulation selling waves. The respective fragile positioning highlights that the market is going through a recovery phase instead of an outright crash.

Keeping this in view, there is a need for a decisive reclamation of the 1.0 threshold. Such a development could enhance sentiment, whereas a renewed slump below 0.95 could pave the way for panic-led volatility in the market. Back in August 2024, Bitcoin’s ($BTC) SOPR dipped to nearly 0.90, commencing wider capitulation selling.

Similarly, in April 2025, SOPR plunged within the 0.94-0.95 range, triggering short-term capitulation. Moving on, by November last year, another sharp decrease to 0.93 resulted in a resurgence in panic selling. Additionally, between January and February this year, SOPR fell within the 0.92-0.93 range, highlighting broader investor fragility. Each of the respective episodes paralleled steep collapses in the price of Bitcoin ($BTC).

Market Stability Requires 1.0 SOPR Reclamation

According to CryptoQuant, the SOPR trajectory aligns with the price movements of Bitcoin ($BTC). Specifically, from April 2024 to April 2026, the price fell sharply during panic phases, with the latest capitulation occurring in the early days of 2026. This was the time when the price slumped to about $65.5K. Overall, while hovering around 0.995, the short-term SOPR needs to reclaim the 1.0 mark for strong market momentum, while a drop below the 0.95 spot could increase panic risk. In the meantime, traders are keenly watching the SOPR levels to gauge market stability.
