The founder loves the food world. She loves experimenting with recipes, particularly gluten-free cookie recipes. The woman who was used to promote punk rock bands chose to run a foodie business. It took Shira Berk around one year to know Greg Toufayan and his business. She tried to have Greg invest in her business. Nonetheless, Greg had never had a partnership with anyone. Therefore, they were very careful in collaborating with other businesses. Shira Berk finally succeeded in getting investment from Greg Toufayan.
In April 2015, Greg Toufayan decided to invest $250.000 in Goodie Girl. The fund helped much in the production. Shira Berk managed the investment well. One and a half later, Toufayan invested an equivalent sum.
The Importance of Partnership
Shira Berk knew the importance of partnership with a bigger brand. She realized that she could not do anything without a partner. At the first time she met Toufayan, Goodie Girl’s annual sales were only about $25.000, and she had few loyal clients. The sales could barely pay the operational costs.
Partnership with Toufayan meant much. It changed the Goodie Girl’s world. In 2016, Shira Berk made $2.5 millions in sales. She projected another increase this year, with projected sales of $4 million.
