Metaplex, a tokenization platform on Solana blockchain, has introduced MPL-3643. MPL-3643 is a new onchain standard. It is designed to support the issuance of permissioned real-world assets (RWAs) and tokenized securities on Solana. The launch of this new security standard adds another layer of infrastructure to Solana’s growing RWA ecosystem. Metaplex has announced this news officially on X today.
Bringing new markets onchain requires compliance infrastructure that supports issuer-sponsored tokenization.

MPL-3643 Brings Compliant Asset Issuance to Solana
The newly introduced standard enables issuers to create assets directly on Solana and incorporate compliance controls into the tokens. According to Metaplex, MPL-3643 is designed to support issuer-sponsored tokenization. It has safety rules such as transfer restrictions, lockup periods, verified-wallet requirements, and jurisdictional limits.
Rather than relying on wrapped representations of assets, MPL-3643 is intended to provide native issuance infrastructure for permissioned assets on Solana. The standard is built on Solana’s existing infrastructure.
Metaplex said permissioned assets created under MPL-3643 are not intended to operate in isolated environments. Instead, the standard is designed to maintain interoperability with Solana’s broader wallet and decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
Metaplex said the infrastructure will support regulated markets that have historically remained offchain. MPL-3643 is currently live on Solana mainnet in limited-access Alpha. Issuers, tokenized securities platforms, tokenization providers, and developers can request early access.
Metaplex has also published technical documentation for the standard. However, the company noted that MPL-3643 has not yet undergone a full security audit.
MPL-3643 Uses Four Programs for Asset Compliance
The standard uses four Metaplex programs, Identity Registry, Compliance Module, Gate, and Lifecycle Manager. Accounts in this standard will initially remain frozen and wallets will become eligible for transfers only after meeting issuer-defined requirements.
Compliance rules are enforced onchain without requiring issuers to develop separate custom code for each asset. As per Metaplex, reusable identity attestations will reduce repeated know-your-customer (KYC) procedures.
Early integrations include of this security standard include Solflare, Raydium, Orca, Phantom, and Jupiter. These wallets and platforms allow MPL-3643-based assets to interact with wallets and decentralized trading platforms across the Solana ecosystem.
