Ripple Targets Faster Global Settlements With AFSL Approval
The AFSL will allow Ripple to deliver a fully licensed, end-to-end platform for global fund transfers. This platform handles the entire transaction lifecycle, from onboarding and compliance to funding, foreign exchange (FX), liquidity management, and payouts. By integrating traditional banking rails with digital assets, Ripple aims to enable faster settlements, enhanced transparency, and minimized counterparty risk for its clients, including financial institutions and fintech companies.
In the announcement, Fiona Murray, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Ripple, emphasized that licensing plays a fundamental role in Ripple’s global strategy. She noted that it enables the company to provide secure and compliant solutions to customers worldwide. Murray also highlighted that Australia is a key market for Ripple, adding that obtaining an AFSL strengthens the company’s ability to scale Ripple Payments across the region. Additionally, she mentioned that the company remains committed to working closely with regulators to support the next phase of growth for digital asset infrastructure.
Ripple Expands Regulatory and Payment Infrastructure Worldwide
This development comes amid robust growth for Ripple in the APAC region, where payments volume nearly doubled year-on-year in 2025. The company has forged partnerships with several Australian entities, including Hai Ha Money Transfer, Stables, Caleb & Brown, Flash Payments, and Independent Reserve. These collaborations highlight Ripple’s focus on providing efficient cross-border payment solutions tailored to local needs.
Globally, Ripple now holds over 75 regulatory licenses, positioning it as one of the most compliant cryptocurrency companies in the industry. The firm has been actively engaging with regulators, participating in initiatives like Project Acacia, a collaborative effort led by the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre to explore digital asset innovations.
