In a State of the Union address yesterday, US President Donald Trump said negotiations with China were going well but stressed that China should change its trade policy and open its markets to US goods.

The White House announced that “Trump” and Federal Reserve Chairman “Jerome Powell” met at a working dinner on Monday night to discuss the most important issues on the economic and monetary policy.

This is the first meeting since Powell took office, followed by harsh criticism from Trump over the central bank’s policy of gradually raising interest rates, a policy that the Federal Reserve recently stopped.

USD index rose by 0.2% to 96.2 points by 17:48 GMT, recording a high of 96.2 points and a low of 96.04 points.
