Forex Technical Major Pairs Analysis | June 17, 2024

USDX (USD Index)

The bullish trend is returning to the U.S. dollar index where strengthening is expected to continue during the third quarter or as long as the Fed has not reduced interest rates. Currently, when there is a decline in the U.S. dollar index to the support point, traders will assume that there will be a bounce and continuation of the increase. However, if the index falls and closes below the daily SMA 200 point, the trend could be bearish or flat near that point.

EUR/USD

EUR/USD moved lower towards 1.0650 and is expected to be reached shortly. For now, the pair looks to be moving bullish within the range of yesterday’s candlestick movement. If the pair succeeds in continuing its increase, the daily SMA 200 point will become a resistance point that needs to be paid attention to. Meanwhile, if the pair manages to fall below 1.0650 and forms a lower swing low point, the bearish trend will continue for some time.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 1.0800, 1.0650, 1.0500

Resistance: 1.0900, 1.1000, 1.1120, 1.1185, 1.1300, 1.1360

GBP/USD

GBP/USD closed bearish yesterday and is still within the 1.2625 – 1.2800 area. The current situation of the pair is still maintained in the area so consolidation is still ongoing. As long as there is no strong close outside the area, traders will assume the pair will continue its consolidation. Traders can use the 1.2625 – 1.2800 area to range trade until there is a close outside this area.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 1.2625, 1.2200, 1.2100, 1.2000

Resistance: 1.2800, 1.3000

USD/JPY

USD/JPY appears to have strengthened in today’s trading but is still limited within the range of yesterday’s candlestick movement. The current movement of the pair still tends to be bullish but there could be a reversal. The pair needs the formation of a higher swing high to confirm the continuation of the long-term bullish trend.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 150.00, 147.00, 145.00, 142.00, 141.00

Resistance: 155.00

AUD/USD

AUD/USD is still under bearish pressure and will try to continue its weakening towards the daily SMA 200 point. However, for now, the pair is near the low point formed over the past few weeks. If an upward bounce occurs, the pair will move towards the 0.6700 point to test it again. Traders will wait for the pair to reach the daily SMA 200 or 0.6700 point, observe the reaction at these points, and consider entering a position after there is strong confirmation of the direction of the next movement.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 0.6500, 0.6350, 0.6170, 0.6000

Resistance: 0.6700, 0.6750, 0.6820, 0.7000
