OKX, a well-known crypto exchange, has announced an exclusive partnership with Standard Chartered, a well-known platform offering crypto custody solutions. The collaboration aims to launch a unique collateral mirroring project. The platform took to social media to reveal this development.

OKX Partners with Standard Chartered to Launch Collateral Mirroring
According to OKX, the collateral mirroring initiative gets support from the industry giants such as Brevan Howard Digital and Franklin. The project denotes a crucial move forward in the integration of conventional financial services into the digital asset infrastructure. The latest project permits institutions to use crypto and tokenized assets in the form of off-exchange collateral. The respective collateral focuses on catering to the trading purposes.
Standard Chartered operates as a regulated and autonomous custodian for digital assets, as a part of this collaboration. It ensures user protection while improving the overall capital efficiency. The custodial services of the bank will run within the Dubai International Financial Centre’s jurisdiction ($DIFC). In addition to this, the Dubai Financial Services Authority will be responsible for supervising these operations. The collateral mirroring project has been released in the form of a pilot program under the Dubai Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority’s regulatory framework.

This initiative reportedly deals with the pressing requirement for a compliant and secure infrastructure to bridge conventional finance and digital assets. It separates custody from trading ecosystems and hands it over to a Globally Systematically Important Bank. Hence, it assists in minimizing the counterparty risk, which poses crucial concerns for entities delving into crypto markets. With the VARA-regulated platform of OKX, the platform will administer collateral while also facilitating related transfers on its users’ behalf.
Redefining Institutional Approach toward Capital Management and Trading with Digital Assets
As per OKX, Franklin Templeton will be the earliest money market providing firm to take part in the project. It will provide tokenized funds that its Digital Assets Team has developed. The respective tokenized assets offer seamless integration into diverse institutional portfolios, broadening on-chain financial tools’ use cases. The collaboration is anticipated to set an exclusive standard for institutions’ approach toward capital management and trading with digital assets.
