Unity Software Inc (NYSE: U) stock fell over 7.8% in the pre-market session of Feb 5th, 2021 (Source: Google finance) after the company provided a forecast that failed to meet analysts’ most optimistic estimates. The company has generated Non-GAAP loss from operations was $20.1 million, or 9% of revenue in the fourth quarter of FY 20, compared to a non-GAAP loss from operations of $23.9 million, or 15% of revenue, in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Since its IPO in September at $52 a share, the company has almost tripled in value to $149.81 at Thursday’s close. The company has recently announced that it was acquiring RestAR, a company whose artificial-intelligence software helps brands make 3D product renderings with mobile devices. The company also announced a deal with Snap that sought to make Unity advertising inventory in apps and games available to companies that advertise with Snap. Free cash flow generated in the fourth quarter of 2020 was $3.6 million, compared to $(9.7) million for the same period last year. Cash, cash equivalents, and restricted cash were $1.3 billion as of December 31, 2020 compared to $0.1 billion as of December 31, 2019.

U in the fourth quarter of FY 20 has reported the adjusted loss per share of 10 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted loss per share of 14 cents, according to Refinitiv. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 39 percent to $220.3 million in the fourth quarter of FY 20, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $204.23 million. Create Solutions, Operate Solutions, and Strategic Partnerships and Other revenue was $66.9 million, $134.3 million, and $19.1 million, respectively, an increase (decrease) of 39%, 55%, and (19)%, respectively, from the fourth quarter of 2019.
Unity expects the range of $210 million to $220 million in first-quarter revenue, which would imply about 29% annualized growth. At the middle of the range, the forecast is about inline with the $214.7 million consensus among analysts polled by Refinitiv. For the first quarter of 2021, the company expects Non-GAAP loss from operations to be in the range of ($30) — ($40) million.
For all of 2021, Unity projects $950 million to $970 million in revenue. The middle of that range, $960 million, would represent 24% growth and is just ahead of the $956.1 million average analyst estimate.
