ABM Industries Inc (NYSE:ABM) stock rose 0.41% (As on March 11, 11:21:01 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company reported first quarter fiscal 2026 results that fell short of earnings expectations. The company attributed margin pressure primarily to Technical Solutions, which experienced project timing issues including weather-related delays and unfavorable service mix, resulting in approximately $0.05 of EPS pressure relative to internal expectations. Segment operating margin compressed to 7.1% from 7.6% last year. Revenue growth was led by Technical Solutions, which increased 14%, and Aviation, which grew 10%. Manufacturing & Distribution rose 7%, while Business & Industry advanced 4% and Education grew 2%. Operating cash flow improved significantly to $62.0 million from negative $106.2 million in the prior year, while free cash flow reached $48.9 million compared to negative $122.9 million last year. Adjusted net income was $50.4 million versus $55.3 million a year ago. Available liquidity stood at $608 million, including $100 million in cash and cash equivalents.
ABM in the first quarter of FY26 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 83 cents, missing the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 87 cents. The facility solutions provider’s adjusted EPS declined from $0.87 in the prior year period. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 6.1 percent to $2.2 billion in the first quarter of FY26, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $2.19 billion. This is driven by 5.5% organic growth and a modest contribution from the acquisition in Ireland completed last year. Adjusted EBITDA was $117.8 million, compared to $120.6 million in the prior year. Operating profit was $8.4 million, with a margin at 3.7%, compared to $16.6 million and 8.2% last year. The margin decline primarily reflects adverse service mix within the microgrid business, as well as the impact of delayed project completions. In the prior year quarter, the company completed a higher volume of engineering-heavy work, which carries structurally higher margins and did not repeat in Q1 of this year.
ABM reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 outlook, maintaining guidance for organic revenue growth of 3% to 4% and adjusted EPS between $3.85 and $4.15. The midpoint of $4.00 represents the company’s earnings target for the year.
ABM Industries provided forward guidance, projecting EPS for the upcoming quarters in 2026 to range from $0.95 to $1.27. The company anticipates revenue growth driven by its recent acquisition of WGNSTAR, expected to contribute $120-$130 million in 2026.
