Bitcoin to Gold Ratio Recovers as $BTC Gains Relative Strength

Bitcoin ($BTC) has strengthened against gold in the last 1 week. BTC-to-gold ratio is recovering after a prolonged period of weakness. The rebound indicates that $BTC has started to outperform the precious metal on a relative basis. As of today, the ratio stands near 17 ounces of gold per BTC. The ratio has recovered from levels around 14–15 earlier in the year. This highlights Bitcoin’s stronger performance compared with gold in August.

BTC Builds Strong Ground Against XAUT

Bitcoin is recently trading in the $78,000–$79,000 range (up 24.9% in the last 10 days) after briefly moving above $81,000. Meanwhile, gold has remained near $4,600–$4,650 per ounce (up 6.6% in the last 10 days) following a strong multi-month advance. BTC has clearly outperformed XAUT by almost 4x. The percentage gains have outpaced gold’s performance, allowing the cryptocurrency to regain some of the ground. The divergence between the two assets has helped lift the BTC-to-gold ratio.

Bitcoin-to-Gold-Relative-Strength

The above chart shows long-term BTC-to-gold ratio performance. The latest reading is near 17.34. The ratio previously reached levels above 40 during Bitcoin’s stronger market cycles. The recovery in the ratio is consistent with a potential mean-reversion move following an extended period of relative weakness for Bitcoin.

Macro Trends Support Both Bitcoin and Gold

Both Bitcoin and gold have benefited from broader macroeconomic factors. This includes expectations surrounding liquidity conditions and movements in the U.S. dollar. However, Bitcoin’s greater sensitivity to shifts in risk appetite has allowed it to post stronger short-term gains during the recent rebound.

Market participants are now watching whether Bitcoin can maintain its momentum and extend its relative strength against gold. Resistance around $82,000 could become an important level for determining whether the recent recovery in Bitcoin’s performance can continue. While gold continues to benefit from strong demand, Bitcoin’s recent rebound suggests that investors are once again showing greater interest in BTC relative to Gold.
