Brookfield Corp (NYSE:BN) stock fell 0.87% (As on August 11, 11:19:31 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company posted better than expected results for the second quarter of FY 23. For 2Q, Brookfield’s distributable earnings before realizations were $1 billion for the quarter and $4.3 billion for the last 12 months, a 21% increase over the previous year. Net income was $1.51 billion, up from $1.48 billion in the year-ago quarter. The asset management business benefited from another strong quarter of fundraising and deployment, increasing fee-related earnings by 16%, when excluding performance fees, compared to the prior year. The insurance solutions business delivered a very strong quarter as the company continues to focus on expanding the investment returns of the existing assets by redeploying the short-duration investment portfolio into higher yielding assets.

BN in the second quarter of FY 23 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 75 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 61 cents. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 35.9 percent to $23.67 billion in the second quarter of FY 23, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $22.81 billion.
Additionally, so far this year the company has announced more than $50 billion of acquisitions, sold approximately $15 billion of assets, and are on track to achieve a record of close to $150 billion of inflows in 2023. The company has also announced that it would be paying a quarterly dividend of $0.07 per share on September 29, 2023, to shareholders of record as at the close of business. The company have significant group-wide liquidity of nearly $120 billion, which includes $34 billion of cash, financial assets and undrawn credit lines at the Corporation and the affiliates.
In addition, Asset Management’s fundraising efforts are expected to accelerate in the second half of this year which, when combined with insurance inflows, should allow the company to raise a record of close to $150 billion of capital in 2023. Insurance Solutions’ remain on track to achieving annualized earnings from this business of $800 million by the end of 2023, with a further step change in earnings expected from the closes of Argo Group and the recently announced acquisition of American Equity Life. With these recently announced acquisitions, the Insurance Solutions business will grow to over $100 billion of assets and the earnings base to a stabilized run-rate of approximately $2 billion annually.
