Cae Inc (NYSE:CAE) Misses Topline Expectations

Cae Inc (NYSE:CAE) stock fell 6.12% (As on May 14, 11:25:12 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company’s profit attributable to equity holders amounted to $135.9 million or 42 cents per share for the quarter ended March 31, compared to a loss of $504.7 million or $1.58 per share in the same quarter last year. Operating income this quarter was $239.9 million (18.8% of revenue), compared to an operating loss of $533.0 million last year, which included an impairment of goodwill of $568.0 million and an impairment of technology and other non-financial assets of $35.7 million. Fourth quarter adjusted segment operating income was $258.8 million (20.3% of revenue) compared to $125.7 million (11.2% of revenue) last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $322.7 million for the quarter compared to $215.2 million in the fourth quarter last year. Free cash flow was $289.4 million for the quarter compared to $191.1 million in the fourth quarter last year.

Moreover, fourth quarter Civil revenue was $728.4 million, up 4% compared to the same quarter last year. Operating income was $197.4 million (27.1% of revenue) compared to $147.0 million (21.0% of revenue) in the fourth quarter last year. During the quarter, Civil signed training and operational support solutions contracts valued at $741.8 million. These included the sale of 14 FFSs and long-term training and digital flight services contracts. The Civil book-to-sales ratio was 1.02x for the quarter and 1.37x for the last 12 months. The Civil adjusted backlog at the end of the year was a record $8.8 billion, which is up 37% from the prior year period. Fourth quarter Defense revenue was $547.0 million, up 29% compared to the same quarter last year. During the quarter, Defense booked orders for $595.7 million, bringing the full-year total to a record $4.0 billion. The Defense book-to-sales ratio was 1.09x for the quarter and 1.99x for the last 12 months. The Defense adjusted backlog at the end of the year was $11.3 billion. In addition, the Defense pipeline remained robust with some $7.0 billion of bids and proposals pending customer decisions.

CAE in the fourth quarter of FY25 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 33 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 32 cents, according to Zacks Investment Research. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 13 percent to $888.4 million in the fourth quarter of FY25, missing the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $909.3 million.
