Schwab Crypto to Expand Beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum

FBS The Best Forex Broker

Schwab Crypto began rolling out to clients in May 2026. The platform has limited number of crypto options at the moment. It currently supports direct trading of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) only. The addition of SOL, AVAX, and LINK will expand the platform’s supported cryptocurrencies to five.

Charles Schwab said it intends to carefully expand its digital asset offering by focusing on established cryptocurrencies that are most demanded by users. The company also plans to provide educational resources, trading tools, and customer support alongside the expanded selection. Joe Vietri, Head of Digital Assets at Charles Schwab, said the expansion will give clients more options to build digital asset portfolios.

The brokerage indicated that it wants to add more cryptocurrencies and digital assets to its platform over time. Clients can currently access crypto trading alongside traditional investments through Schwab.com and the Schwab Mobile app.

Charles Schwab Sets 0.75% Fee for Crypto Trades

Charles Schwab charges a 75-basis-point, or 0.75%, fee on the dollar value of each crypto trade. The company has described the fee as among the lowest in the industry. However, digital assets held in Schwab Crypto accounts are not protected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).

Schwab Crypto is currently unavailable to clients in New York and Louisiana due to licensing restrictions. Charles Schwab oversees approximately $13 trillion in client assets and serves nearly 40 million active brokerage accounts.  The company has not announced an exact launch date for the three tokens yet. Trading support for the 3 new tokens is expected to become available in the coming months.
