Circle Internet Group Inc (NYSE:CRCL) Gets Neutral Rating

Circle Internet Group Inc (NYSE:CRCL) stock fell 1.58% (As on October 7, 11:37:14 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after Rothschild & Co Redburn initiated coverage of the company with a Neutral rating and $136 price target. The firm says Circle’s ongoing need to invest in distribution, its expectations of heightened competition in the stablecoin market as real-world use cases develop, and the stock’s current “high valuation” warrant a Neutral rating. The company, which is the second-largest stablecoin issuer globally, primarily offers USDC with a market capitalization of approximately $73 billion. USDC has gained widespread adoption in cryptocurrency markets, where continued growth is expected. With a market capitalization of $34.65 billion, Circle operates with a moderate debt level and maintains a current ratio of 1.03x.

Rothschild Redburn notes that while stablecoin volume currently represents only about 1.2% of US M2 money supply, the potential addressable market is significantly larger, theoretically spanning the entirety of global value transfer and money supply. Circle generates most of its revenue from interest income on reserves backing its stablecoins. In 2025, the company is forecast to pay over 60% of reserve income as distribution costs, with the majority going to Coinbase, its long-standing partner under a multi-year collaboration agreement.

The research firm expects Circle’s distribution costs to decrease but remain above 55% of reserve income through 2028 as the company works to encourage adoption, while also developing additional products including the Circle Payment Network, which connects financial institutions for real-time payment settlement using Circle’s stablecoins.

Additionally, Circle Internet Group has also announced a strategic partnership with Kraken to expand the offerings of USDC and EURC stablecoins. This collaboration aims to provide enhanced liquidity and reduced conversion fees for Kraken’s clients. In corporate governance news, David Orfao resigned from the board of directors, leading to a reduction in board size from nine to eight members. The company clarified that Orfao’s departure was not due to any disagreements with its operations or policies. This summer it launched Arc, a dedicated Layer-1 blockchain for stablecoins, and has built a Circle Payments Network (CPN) to let banks and institutions settle transactions in USDC/EURC in real time. For example, at a Circle conference in Sept 2025 it announced partners Arf and Huma will join CPN to provide on-demand USDC credit (reducing the need for large prefunding).

In addition, the company nonetheless has a strong balance sheet: total assets were ~$64.2B with ~$63.1B in cash and equivalents.
