After the recent staging of a case in the Metaverse, Colombia has established its position as the centre of cutting-edge methods for carrying out legal processes. According to a recent article, a Colombian jury recently held the first legal trial to take place in the Metaverse. The court magistrate remarked that the experience seemed more authentic than a video call.
A Successful Beginning For Potential Future Studies That Take Place In Virtual Settings
The trial was held in an online virtual world where users can create their avatars and interact with one another. Overall, the trial was a success, with the judge declaring it “a good start” for future trials that may be held in virtual environments. The trial was a landmark event, as it marked the first time a legal proceeding had been conducted in virtual reality.
The trial, which was held by the Supreme Court of Justice in Colombia and streamed live to an audience of over a hundred people, was the first time a trial has been held in virtual reality. In addition to being groundbreaking for its use of technology, this trial also marked the first time that it had ever been held outside of a physical courtroom. A court case involving players in a traffic disagreement was held in the Metaverse on February 15 according to a Reuters story that was released on February 24.

A regional transport association brought the two-hour trial against the police, and part of it will take place in the metaverse, with the possibility that the decision may also be delivered there. Magistrate Maria Quinones Triana was dressed in black judicial robes as she presided over the case as an avatar in a virtual courtroom. Quinones told Reuters that it seemed more authentic than a video chat, and it was highlighted that Columbia is one of the initial nations to test court processes in the metaverse.
Maximum Respondents Believe, Society Standards Will Alter as a Result of the Metaverse
This follows a previous study conducted by CoinWire dated Jan. 16 that revealed 69% of respondents thought the metaverse will soon change social behaviours as a result of novel ways to enjoy activities. The World Economic Forum (WEF), which was held in January of this year, was noted for its use of metaverse experiences. Delegates were allowed to participate in the forum’s unique 3D interactive digital sessions, known as the Global Collaboration Village.
