Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) Surpasses Estimates

Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT), a global leader in online vehicle auctions and vehicle remarketing services, stock rose 6.41% (As on May 18, 11:17:40 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company posted better than expected results for the third quarter of FY 23. For the three months ended April 30, 2023, gross profit, and net income were $483.4 million, and $350.4 million, respectively. These represent an increase in gross profit of $47.2 million, or 10.8%; and an increase in net income of $71.8 million, or 25.8%, respectively, from the same period last year. For the nine months ended April 30, 2023, revenue, gross profit, and net income were $2,871.9 million, $1,279.4 million, and $890.0 million, respectively. These represent an increase in revenue of $254.4 million, or 9.7%; an increase in gross profit of $54.8 million, or 4.5%; and an increase in net income of $63.6 million, or 7.7%, respectively, from the same period last year. Fully diluted earnings per share for the nine months were $1.84 compared to $1.71 last year, an increase of 7.6%.

CPRT in the third quarter of FY 23 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 72 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 62 cents, according to the Zacks Consensus Estimate . The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 8.7 percent to $1.02 billion in the third quarter of FY 23, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue by 0.86%.

On the other hand, the Second Amended and Restated Credit Agreement provides for, among other things, (a) an increase in the secured revolving credit commitments by $200.0 million, bringing the aggregate principal amount of the revolving credit commitments under the Second Amended and Restated Credit Agreement to $1,250.0million, (b)an increase in the letter of credit sublimit from$60.0million to $100.0million, (c)addition of Copart UK Limited, CPRT GmbHand Copart Autos España, S.L.U.,each a wholly-owned direct or indirect foreign subsidiary of Copart, as borrowers, (d) addition of the ability to borrow under the Second and Amended and Restated Credit Agreement in certain foreign currencies including Pounds Sterling, Euro and Canadian Dollars, (e) extension of the maturity date of the revolving credit facility under the Existing Credit Agreement fromJuly 21, 2023 to December 21, 2026, (f) replacing the LIBOR interest rate applicable to U.S. Dollar denominated borrowings with a SOFR-based interest rate,and (g)changing the pricing levels with respect to the revolving loans.
