USDX (USD Index)
The U.S. Dollar Index continues to reliably maintain its structural positioning above the 99.00 milestone. Price action has remained remarkably steady with no major changes compared to yesterday’s levels, keeping the broader sideways consolidation phase firmly intact. Market participants appear to be in a holding pattern, waiting for a decisive fundamental catalyst to spark a breakout. If the index can eventually pick up sustained upward momentum, the 100.00 level stands as the primary target for a bullish extension.
EUR/USD
EUR/USD suffered from a distinct lack of follow-through after initially trading upward. Sellers stepped back in to erase the immediate gains, dragging the pair straight back down to its daily opening level where it currently hovers. If buyers fail to defend this immediate area, the price could easily rotate lower to retest its key horizontal support at 1.1580. On the other hand, a renewed wave of buying pressure leaves technical room for an eventual run toward the 1.1710 resistance line.
Today’s critical levels to watch:
Support: 1.1580, 1.1500, 1.1360, 1.1300
Resistance: 1.1710, 1.1820,1.2000, 1.2070
GBP/USD
GBP/USD remains under clear bearish pressure today, slipping back down below the 1.3450 horizontal level. However, the downside remains restricted for now as the pair has yet to reach its daily SMA 200 dynamic support line. It appears highly likely that the pair will prolong a consolidation phase between both of these key levels in the near term. A decisive daily close outside of this compressed boundary will be required to dictate the market’s next structural direction.
Today’s critical levels to watch:
Support: 1.3450, 1.3330, 1.3300, 1.3250
Resistance: 1.3600
USD/JPY
USD/JPY has successfully broken out of its recent consolidation phase to resume its broader upward movement, printing a clean new higher high during today’s session. With buyers firmly back in the driver’s seat, the pair is technically set to target the very top of the historical candlestick where the previous major Bank of Japan (BOJ) intervention occurred. Despite the situation, traders will stay extremely cautious on the chance of another intervention by BOJ.
Today’s critical levels to watch:
Support: 155.50, 155.00, 153.00, 151.00
Resistance: 158.89, 160.00, 161.18
AUD/USD
AUD/USD is trading under modest bearish pressure today but continues to stick tightly to the major 0.7160 horizontal line. The ongoing lack of strong directional volume suggests the pair is experiencing significant indecision near this key structural level, pointing to a prolonged sideways crawl for the time being. Traders will want to watch for a sharp momentum away from this immediate consolidation area before looking for sustained trend extension toward the 0.7000 floor or the 0.7300 ceiling.
Today’s critical levels to watch:
Support: 0.7160, 0.7000, 0.6820, 0.6750, 0.6700, 0.6600
Resistance: 0.7300, 00.7330
