Why IHS Markit Ltd (NASDAQ: INFO) stock is falling

IHS Markit Ltd (NASDAQ: INFO) in the second quarter of FY 17  has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 52 cents, while reported an adjusted revenue growth of 54 percent to $906.1 million in the second quarter of FY 17, which includes the reported organic revenue growth of 5 percent and normalized organic revenue growth of 3 percent. But, the stock lost over 1.2% today (as of 12:04PM EDT on June 27th, 2017; Source: Google finance). INFO stock has risen 50.8% in the last one year (source: Google Finance).

Moreover, the second quarter adjusted EBITDA for Resources has increased 7 percent, to $100 million, primarily due to the shift in timing of our annual CERAWeek conference from the first quarter in 2016 to the second quarter in 2017. The second quarter revenue for Resources increased 1 percent, to $224 million, and declined 6 percent organically for the recurring-based business. The second quarter revenue for Transportation has increased 5 percent, to $242 million, and included 9 percent organic growth for the recurring-based business. Second quarter Adjusted EBITDA for Transportation has increased $8 million, or 8 percent, to $98 million. The second quarter revenue for CMS has decreased 4 percent, to $131 million, and had 1 percent organic growth for the recurring-based business. Second quarter Adjusted EBITDA for CMS increased $1 million, or 3 percent, to $32 million. Further, the second quarter revenue for Financial Services was $309 million, and included 8 percent total organic growth. Second quarter Adjusted EBITDA for Financial Services was $139 million.

IHS Markit expects the full-year earnings in the range of $2.02 to $2.08 per share, compared to the analysts’ consensus earnings per share estimate of $2.06. The revenue is expected in the range of $3.49 billion to $3.56 billion, compared to the consensus revenue estimate of $3.53 billion. In addition, the Adjusted EBITDA is expected in a range of $1.375 billion to $1.400 billion. The depreciation expense is expected to be over $155 million to $165 million and the net interest expense is expected to be approximately $145 million to $150 million. The capex is expected to be approximately 7 percent to 8 percent of the revenue.
