Twitter Will Have 24-Hour Live Video Stream on Bloomberg

Twitter seems to be increasingly serious to roll news channel for its messaging service. The social media company signs a deal with Bloomberg to launch live video stream, which will be made up of feeds from Bloomberg bureaus as well as original programming. The news channel is set to be on air for 24 hours a day. Actually, Twitter has collaborated with other companies to produce live streaming videos.

The existing contracts are still limited to social media network. The new deals will extend the company’s live streaming reach, as it will be on air throughout the day. For some analysts, this is one of the strategies used by Twitter to compete with internet giants, such as Google and social media giants, such as Facebook. These large companies have benefited much from video ads.

When interviewed by media, Justin Smith (Chief Executive of Bloomberg) admitted the deal. The live video stream will have a broader focus than the existing one. The deal targets Twitter users, who love to send tweets when they watch live events. Smith told that the deal would provide the users with multi-stream experience.

Anthony Noto (Chief Operating Officer of Twitter) added that the live streaming program will be designed for mobile users. This way, the Twitter users can immediately focus their attention when they are watching something interesting. They can watch live streams while the social media activity is not interrupted.

As a matter of fact, Twitter has broadcasted more than 800 hours of live video from January to March 2017. It increased from 600 hours at the same period in 2016. The company found that many of the videos are related to specific events. The deal is expected to target those events. However, neither Bloomberg nor Twitter had disclosed the terms of the deal. The question will be answered when the 24-hour live video stream will have been working by the autumn this year.

How the Deal on Live Video Stream Will Work

With the deal, the news company, Bloomberg, will produce a program that streams news specifically for Twitter. The news-streaming program will be available for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The partnership is set for announcement during the Bloomberg LP event. The announcement will be made by Bloomberg’s representative – Michael – and Twitter CEO– Jack Dorsey.

Despite lack of information on the contents of deal and the channel’s name, Justin Smith signaled that the news contents will be focused on intelligent audience, namely users of Twitter, around the globe. The focus will be broader than Bloomberg’s existing network. The news will be obtained from Bloomberg’s outlets around the world. It will also contain verified videos posted by the users on Twitter.

Right now, Bloomberg has collaborated with a number of parties, such as National Football League, Amazon, and even Twitter. However, the existing arrangement is limited to live streaming of presidential debates, which were held last year. Anthony Noto is optimistic that the program will be able to reach audiences that do not pay for TV. For him, Bloomberg is a perfect partner to achieve its targets.
