Coinbase Files with U.S. CFTC for Natural Gas and Cardano Derivatives
As per Coinbase, Coinbase Derivatives is broadening its offerings with the inclusion of Cardano ($ADA) futures and Natural Gas ($NGS) futures. Hence, it has filed with the U.S. CFTC for the respective products’ self-certification. On the approval, the platform plans to launch the above-mentioned contracts on the 14th of March 31. This will mark a significant move in the growing derivatives ecosystem of Coinbase.
The launch of the Cardano ($ADA) futures and Natural Gas ($NGS) futures denotes the crypto exchange’s endeavors to connect crypto and conventional finance. By incorporating these contracts, Coinbase is increasing its presence in the energy commodities. In the meantime, the Cardano ($ADA) futures further fortify the crypto exchange’s status as a leading platform in the world of digital asset derivatives. With this, it attempts to deliver additional tools to retail and investors for speculation as well as risk management. Overall, the exchange focuses on attracting institutions intending to speculate on future price movements and hedge more risks in a regulated setting.
Increasing Options for Speculation Apart from Risk Management
According to Coinbase, the filing submitted with the U.S. CFTC will grow the offerings for the investors. The provision of Cardano ($ADA) futures will increase liquidity for the $ADA token. Moreover, the $NGS futures will invite institutional investors by offering more speculation along with risk management.

Nonetheless, the decision to approve or reject these products is to be taken by the CFTC. However, this move could lead to additional approvals for crypto-based futures products. Hence, it could encourage wider institutional participation in the landscape of digital assets. The crypto exchange has advised the users to stay tuned for further updates.
