Bitcoin ($BTC) is approaching a major technical resistance level near $82,800 following its strong recovery in the last 3 days. This crucial technical resistance level has been pointed out by Chartered Market Technician Aksel Kibar. Kibar currently works for TechCharts. In his recent post on X, Kibar identified $82,800 as the most important resistance level for Bitcoin. Currently, BTC is dealing with $78,000 resistance, which is less significant compared to $82,800.
$BTCUSD Next important technical hurdle at 82.8K. Double bottom/rectangle reversal… you name it. The neckline (or the resistance for a longer-term rectangle) is at 82.8K.

Bitcoin Needs Breakout Above $82,800 to Continue the Uptrend
In his latest tweet, Kibar says that the current price structure of BTC will likely represent a double-bottom or rectangle reversal pattern in order to continue the upward trend. Right now, $82,800 is serving as the neckline or upper boundary of the longer-term range.
Kibar also highlighted Bitcoin’s previous breakout above $67,200 resistance. He noted that the move had already captured the easier upside opportunity from the earlier consolidation range. After the breakout, BTC pasted recorded upside move with one of the largest short squeeze ever.
As of August 23, Bitcoin was trading around $77,000-$77,500 after reaching approximately $79,400 earlier in the week. The leading cryptocurrency has staged a strong recovery from the $62,000-$64,000 area seen earlier in August. BTC has gained more than 25% within a matter of days.
The latest rebound has pushed Bitcoin significantly above the $67,200 level highlighted in Kibar’s previous analysis. However, the analyst suggests that the next major test lies considerably higher at $82,800.
A decisive breakout above this resistance could provide confirmation of a broader bullish reversal based on the double-bottom or rectangle structure. Until such a move occurs, the $82,800 zone remains a key technical barrier for Bitcoin on the weekly and longer-term charts.
Bitcoin Bulls Face Major Technical Test
Bitcoin’s ability to maintain momentum toward $82,800 could determine whether the recent rally develops into a larger trend reversal. A sustained move above the level could strengthen the bullish setup. However, failure to break through it could lead to further consolidation.
Traders are therefore closely watching whether Bitcoin can build enough momentum to challenge the $82,800 resistance or whether the recent gains will lose momentum below the key level.
