Binance, a top crypto exchange, has announced plans to migrate users’ cryptocurrency holdings from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts. This is part of its broader restructuring as the exchange is embracing tokenized stocks trading. The phased migration will begin on September 29, 2026. The migration will take a few months and is expected to continue through January 2027.

As per the official announcement from Binance, the restructuring is intended to simplify its account structure, separating crypto holdings from stocks’ settlement. After the migration is completed, Binance will officially rename the Funding Account as the Stocks Account. Stocks Account will be dedicated to the clearing and settlement of equities and stock options.
Binance Begins Funding Account Crypto Migration
Starting September 29, Binance will disable on-chain cryptocurrency deposits into Funding Accounts. Deposits and withdrawals for supported cryptocurrencies will be made in Spot Accounts. The Stocks Account will have support for 6 settlement assets used for stock and stock-options trading. These 6 options include 5 stablecoins, USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB (the native coin of Binance).
Users will be able to proactively move their cryptocurrency holdings from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts through a new One-Click Migration feature. Users are advised to update their Binance mobile app to the latest version to access the one-click migration feature. Transaction records will continue to display the original Funding Account label.
Additionally, Binance will automatically transfer any remaining eligible crypto balances in batches beginning in January 2027. The exchange said the migration will not affect users’ total asset values or fund security.
Binance Changes Other Services With Account Redesign
The restructuring will affect several Binance services. Starting September 29, assets associated with Binance Card, Gift Card, and certain Pay transactions will be credited to Spot Accounts. The exchange will also make adjustments involving Convert limit orders, recurring orders, Alpha 2.0, P2P trading, and API integrations. Users relying on these services may need to update their account selections or settings.
Binance also plans to introduce a dedicated P2P Account for advertisers at a later stage.
Once the migration is complete, the renamed Stocks Account will be dedicated for equity and stock-options settlement while Spot Account will handle cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals solely.
