Bitcoin ($BTC) has recently touched a record high of $111K, but the spot volume is still low. As per the data from Glassnode, the cumulative spot volume of Bitcoin ($BTC) is at significantly low levels, despite prices surpassing $111K. The on-chain analytics platform took to social media to share insights into the low volume levels of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Spot Volume Touches Low Amid Price Surge to $111K
The market data points out that the total Bitcoin spot volume in terms of USD has substantially dropped. Hence, the transaction volume is now moving around up to $7.7B, denoting a 36% plunge from the former peaks. This drop, even during the ongoing price optimism, raises questions. The on-chain statistics indicate that a couple of prior dips in Bitcoin’s volume preceded phases of slight corrections or consolidation. One of them took place last year in April, while the 2nd of them started at the end of the same year and concluded in 2025.
This noteworthy divergence is triggering discussion among investors and analysts alike. Irrespective of the record price highs of $BTC, the minimized spot volume highlights a relatively less speculative and organic rally in comparison with past cycles. Apart from that, the exchange reserves are decreasing, signifying investors’ shift of $BTC holdings into self-custody wallets.

Moving Bitcoin into self-custody often indicates a shift toward long-term holding. Apart from that, a spot premium over Bitcoin perpetual futures contracts is a sign that the overall market is now being led by actual buying instead of derivative speculation. Simultaneously, ETF inflows have also shown a continuous upsurge, disclosing a robust institutional demand. Even then, the deficient volume follow-through ignites caution flags.
Low Spot Volume Triggers Caution Concerning Abrupt Corrections
According to Glassnode, the low spot volume of Bitcoin could underscore structural strength. Nonetheless, it also increases the vulnerability of the rally if institutional flows decrease or momentum diminishes. In the meantime, the market sentiment is cautiously bullish, boosted by growing social metrics. Even then, the market onlookers are of the view that if spot volume does not resurge, any correction in price could be rapid.
