The top crypto asset Bitcoin (BTC) has recently gone through a sheer scarcity in terms of supply. As per a popular market intelligence forum Santiment, the crypto token has reached the lowest level of its supply on exchanges since 2021’s December. However, Tether and Ethereum are maintaining their position in this respect. The platform disclosed this exclusive news on its official account on X.

BTC Supply Dips to the Least Amount on Exchanges following 2021’s December
Santiment pointed out that the chief cryptocurrency presently has around 942K coins in the case of supply. In recent days, the price of the crypto token has been moving around the $69,000 spot. In this respect, BTC has been trading within the range between $66,400 and $72,000, inducing a mixed sentiment. The market bulls label the relative stability close to the all-time high of Bitcoin as an optimistic sign.
On the other hand, the bearish investors are getting more and more impatient due to no upward trajectory. In the meantime, during the respective ranging period, the exchange balance of Bitcoin has plunged to significant lows, as the on-chain data discloses. The consistent coin outflow from the centralized exchanges indicates an approaching supply shock that could upset the market.
As the exchange balance of Bitcoin has declined on exchanges, Vivek Sen (the founder of Bitgrow Lab) commented on this. According to him, this metric has touched its all-time low. Sen added that the respective situation points toward a looming supply shock. An optimistic supply shock denotes a surge in the availability of Bitcoin while demand persists or elevates. This leads to a price slump.

On the other hand, a negative supply shock presents an opposite scenario, paving the way for an uphill price pressure. Since February’s mid, the exchange-based amount of BTC has been lowering continuously. At that time, the balance stood at up to 2.72M tokens. A gradual plunge continued during April. Nonetheless, by the 25th of May, a sheer decline started. As a result of this, the exchange balance fell to 2.49M by the 7th of this month.
Tether and Ethereum Maintains Their Positions with Adequate Supply
Santiment moved on to disclose that Tether’s supply on exchanges currently stands at the 16.04B mark. The token’s all-time high supply on exchanges is up to 16.95B which was reached in 2022’s July. Hence, Tether is getting near the ATH spot. On the other hand, Ethereum’s current supply on exchanges is approximately 17.98M. The all-time high figure in this respect is 29.89M which Ethereum achieved in 2020’s May.
