A prominent crypto exchange ByBit has announced its decision to halt its activities in France from August 2, 2024. The development comes after the lengthened dispute between ByBit and the financial regulatory agency of France the “Autorité des Marchés” as it had included the crypto exchange in the blacklist since the year 2022.

The troubles of ByBit started when the platform reportedly failed to get registered as a Digital Asset Services Provider. After this, the AMF blacklisted the crypto exchange. The regulator has consistently cautioned investors in France concerning the risks linked with the utilization of unregistered companies. It warned that the authorities could shut down these sites without giving any notice.
Following that, on the 16th of May, the AMF repeated the caution for French residents. In this respect, on the 1st of August, ByBit issued a press release. The crypto exchange cited the regulatory advancements as the chief reason behind its decision to stop its activities in the French jurisdiction. It asserted that this development will take effect from the 2nd of this month. As included in this move, the company will restrict the accounts of the users in France.

As a result of this, the consumers will not be capable of depositing more funds or opening the latest positions. It added that the platform will liquidate the already open positions if the users do not close them by the 13th of this month. In addition to this, the firm will also suspend the card services specified for the users in France. However, the clients can still withdraw the existing funds from the accounts thereof.
