Stronghold Eyes Further Growth with Additional 2,500 A1466 Miners from Canaan
According to Canaan, joint venture agreements with Cipher Mining Inc. (NASDAQ: CIFR) and Stronghold Digital Mining, Inc. (NASDAQ: SDIG) caused the extra purchase orders. These orders indicate increased demand for Canaan’s advanced computing technology, especially in Bitcoin mining.
Contract signed by Bitcoin mining data center operator Cipher Mining on December 29, 2023. Two joint companies in which Cipher owns 49% bought 16,700 Canaan A1466 mining equipment under this agreement. Machines average 150 terahashes per second. In April and May 2024, Cipher’s Bear and Chief data centers in Texas will receive the computers.

Stronghold Digital Mining bought 1,100 A1346 mining machines from Canaan on December 26, 2023. These BTC mining devices average 123T/s hashes. The Stronghold Scrubgrass Plant will acquire this equipment in January 2024. Stronghold adds 2,500 140T/s to 150T/s A1466 miners. Patha Creek Plant houses Stronghold’s July 27, 2023-purchased 2,000 A1346 mining equipment.

In response to these orders, Canaan Chairman and CEO Nangeng Zhang praised stock-listed mining companies. Zhang stated that Canaan’s new A14 product line’s subsequent orders show its potential and the computing power sales recovery through multiple channels. He said industry players’ frequent demands show Canaan’s outstanding technology, reliability, and perfection. Zhang hopes to aid global crypto customers as the business grows.
Greg Beard, Chairman and CEO of Stronghold Digital Mining, echoed the sentiment of enhanced partnership with Canaan. Stronghold Digital Mining CEO Greg Beard backed Canaan partnership expansion. He applauded acquiring the A1346 and cutting-edge A1466 miners. Positive past experiences with similar products influenced his choice. Beard wanted to exploit the A1346’s strong hash rate, energy efficiency, and low price.
