ConsenSys, the parent firm of MetaMask (a prominent self-custodial wallet), has filed a comment letter to the US SEC. The company has reportedly advocated to authorize a spot ETH ETF while stressing that the security of Ethereum is enhanced than the spot BTC ETF. The platform provided the details of the distributed verification procedure that Ethereum implements.

ConsenSys’ Latest Comment Letter Persuades SEC to Approve a Spot ETH ETF
In addition to this, ConsenSys also emphasized the increased attack costs as well as the environmental benefits of Ethereum. In its recent blog post, the company disclosed that the regulator asked for comments concerning PoS and its apprehensions. These things take into account manipulation, fraud as well as unique concerns. In its response, ConsenSys revealed that the respective apprehensions do not hold any merit.
Contrarily, it claimed that the PoS implementation of Ethereum meets and rather goes beyond the PoW’s security under Bitcoin. Apart from that, the firm mentioned that the PoS of Ethereum possesses resilient built-in anti-manipulation and anti-fraud mechanisms. These apparatuses can provide a relatively stronger resistance to tampering compared with the BTC PoW consensus model.
The firm noted that Ethereum PoS contains a more rapid block finality without any reversal in a very smaller period. As per ConsenSys, Ethereum PoS uses a randomized and distributed validation procedure. This reportedly prevents huge stakeholder control, taking into account the examination of manipulation and error. The model prevents malicious actors from exercising their influence.

Moreover, the company clarified that Ethereum PoS utilizes the Total cost-to-attack model. It is reportedly superior to what Bitcoin uses, minimizing the risk of network compromise to a great extent. Furthermore, Ethereum reprimands validators who breach the protocol role via stake docking. With the use of Slashing, a punitive measure that is more effective than PoW.
Along with that, ConsenSys asserted that the Ethereum PoS is generally environmentally friendly with less energy consumption. Additionally, the decentralized community as well as the transparency of Ethereum enhance its security. While providing all these details in favor of the Ethereum PoS, the firm persuaded the regulatory agency to approve the spot ETH ETF.
