Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) found rare recommendation from non-profit organization for its stringent action against Islamic State’s activities on its micro-blogging platform. The ultra-religious group was accused of engaging in recruiting and propaganda activities on the networking site taking advantage of the platforms quick, easy and simple messaging technology and leveraging its personalized-reach among the world’s politically-active population.

Non-profit Grade ‘B’

Simon Wiesenthal Center as part of its Digital Terrorism and Hate Project awarded Twitter Inc(NYSE:TWTR) Grade “B” for the continued efforts to thwart the online activities of the Islamic State and its militant activities and other similar organizations.

The Wiesenthal’s project headed by Rabbi Abraham Cooper, said that, their grading of the blogging platform was based on extensive review of the policy changes introduced by Twitter. The center had also based much of their review on one-to-one meetings with executives of the company; Cooper shared in an interview to Reuters.

In the past, the Center had been one of the biggest critics of Twitter Inc’s (NYSE:TWTR) relaxed attitude to Islamic State’s radicalization and recruitment of new followers. The Wiesental Center is a leading human rights organization for the Jewish community which closely follows human rights violation activities on a global scale.

New guidelines Banning “Hateful Conduct”

The micro-blogging site is known for its ‘political tolerance’ and its pro-protestors stand on ‘Spring uprising’ in West Asia, and similar public opposition to government laws across the world. However, with the latest terrorist attack in Paris, Twitter Inc has reviewed it lenient stand towards political-religion-laced messages.

In December, it created online history by revising its user policies. It strongly recommended that users should desist from posting ‘hate’ comments, posts promoting violence targeting specific groups.

Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) warned that it would delete accounts it found to have ‘hateful conduct.’ It also down-graded the ‘verified’ status it gave to some of its star Twitters, especially those engaged in political commentary, clearly delineating the limits for users. In 2015, the Center had graded Twitter “C” based on the network efforts to control terrorism and hate speech.
