Polyhedra Network Unveils Trustless Cross-Chain BTC Swaps

Polyhedra, a decentralizing restaking protocol on the Ethereum, has announced an astounding development. As per the company, it is introducing a completely trustless cross-chain BTC token swap through zkBridge to provide a cutting-edge user experience. Trustless cross-chain token swaps are called “trustless” because they eliminate the need for users to trust any centralized intermediary or counterparty during the swapping process. The platform took to its official account on X to disclose the new project.

Polyhedra Network Offers Completely Cross-Chain BTC Token Swaps

In its recent blog post, the firm noted that it has lately been making great endeavors to enhance Bitcoin efficiency. Amid the recent spikes of Bitcoin, the company has been focusing on enabling a wide-ranged, seamless interaction with the token. In this respect, the platform has utilized the zkBridge technology to increase BTC interaction across diverse chains.

Initially, the company facilitated Bitcoin with transaction interoperability with the zkBridge BTC messaging protocol. In this respect, it enabled the receipt blockchain for the verification of BTC transfers and block headers. While doing this, the firm ensured effective security through ZK proofs. Nonetheless, conducting transfers from the rest of the blockchains to BTC has posed a huge challenge.

On the other hand, the restricted smart contract-related capabilities of Bitcoin are not enough compatible for that. Hence, to exercise secure message delivery from Ethereum and other such networks to BTC, the firm utilized zkBridge. With this, it introduced a couple of strategies, including the Bitcoin AVS and the verification of ZK on BTC. In the first strategy, Polyhedra borrows crypto-economic security. EigenLayer dual-staking provides the respective security.

Then, the BTC AVS offers a trust-minimized and rapid interoperability protocol. The second method deals with the validation of ZK proofs straight on BTC by utilizing Fast Reed-Solomon Interactive ZK proofs. The company can develop the zkBridge with BTC operating as the receiver chain while utilizing the ZK validator on Bitcoin.

The Development Bridges the Gap Between BTC and Other Chains

The chief purpose of this development is to bridge the gap between smart contract-compatible blockchains and Bitcoin. The solution that the platform offers navigates the limitations of Bitcoin by using smart contracts of Ethereum. In this way, it organizes the token swap procedure. This mechanism guarantees that BTC can efficiently interact with and execute transfers across the rest of the smart contract-compatible networks.
