ProShares and Bitwise have petitioned the SEC for a Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH)-only exchange-traded fund (ETF). If approved, the Bitcoin and Ether equal weight ETF will hold monthly extended positions in the Bitcoin and Ether futures contracts closest to their maturity dates to test its efficacy.
This comes amid rising US Bitcoin ETF hopes. US investors can only buy Bitcoin derivative-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs). ProShares now offers cryptocurrency-related financial products, including a Bitcoin futures ETF. In December, the same organization applied for a metaverse-focused ETF.
11th Ether ETF Application in 7 Days Targets Bitcoin and Ether Equally
The Bitcoin and Ether ETF, which weighs both cryptocurrencies equally, is the 11th Ether ETF application in seven days. The SEC has received 11 applications for Ether futures exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in a short time. The Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) monitors and replicates long positions in Bitcoin and ether monthly futures contracts closest to maturity, according to the August 3rd submission.
ProShares has filed four Ether-based ETF applications in recent days. Bloomberg ETF specialist James Seyffart said the offers include a strategy ETF that combines Bitcoin and Ether futures, one that shorts Ether, and one that just targets Ether.
Surge in Ether ETF Applications Signals Growing Interest in Digital Currency Investments
The recent upswing in applications for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) pertaining to Ether signifies a growing inclination towards providing investment opportunities associated with digital currency. A total of eleven filings have been made exclusively for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) focused on futures. On July 28, Volatility Shares became the inaugural company to file an application for an Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) based on Ether. It submitted a petition for the Volatility Shares Ether Strategy ETF.

After Volatility Shares, many other companies, including Bitwise Asset Management, Roundhill Financial, Van Eck, ProShares, and Grayscale Investments, have recently filed applications for Ether futures on August 1. This development reflects the growing enthusiasm surrounding cryptocurrency-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The future prospects of these Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are characterized by uncertainty. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will precisely assess each proposal to ascertain its adherence to regulatory prerequisites. Investors and industry experts are eagerly awaiting the decision regarding the approval of these ETFs. If approved, these ETFs have the potential to create new opportunities for individuals. They will seek to participate in the cryptocurrency market using conventional financial instruments.
