Rob Gronkowski, the NFL star, has seen his NFT drop manage to garner over $1.8 million in primary sales through the OpenSea NFT marketplace.
NFT Tokens Going For Big Bucks
As for the sale itself, aptly named The Rob Gronkowski Championship Series NFT Collection, boasts five different tokenized cards. These cards represent in-game depictions of action shots of the player in question during his championship-winning games.
As for what this Championship Series includes in detail, it boasts five NFT collectibles, with a one-of-a-kind NFT included, as well. The other four NFTs have a total of 87 copies each, and were both minted and auctioned off between the 11th and 13th of March, 2021. One of the notable clauses within the auction’s terms is that 10 minutes were added every time a bid was made within the last ten minutes.
One Bidder Going All Out
As for the One-of-a-Kind token, namely the GRONK Career Highlight Refractor Card, stands as a collage of the four other NFT illustrations, with a digital signature from Gronkowski in tow. To pile on the incentives, the purchaser of this token will be capable of meeting Gronkowski face to face, including two tickets to see one of the NFL games he will take part in for 2021. The cherry on the cake for this NFT is two VIP tickets to the next beach party event Gronkowski will host.
The initial bid for this product was just $110, but bidders quickly shot that out of the water. It wasn’t long before the NFT was being bid at 6-figure numbers and above. It all culminated into the bids reaching a whopping $150,000, then shot up to $400,000 in the matter of two measly hours. In the end, the bid was won at the tune of 229 Ether, which is worth around $430,000. The lucky “winner” of spending so much money on the token was “9DD7B7”.
Secondary Markets Already At Large
Whoever this 9DD7B7 is, they are undoubtedly very wealthy. They were busy through the auction’s entirety, purchasing a total of 160 NFTs from this auction. This includes one of every top-5 tokens by clearing price. By the end of the day, all five of these tokens amounted to a total value of around $650,000.
The tokens are already on the secondary markets of OpenSea, as well. Scalpers all across the world are trading tokens, with the GRONK Championship LI going for 14.2 Ether, around $26,000. Another notable sale is that of the GRONK Championship LV, which is trading for 7.77 apiece, or $14,000.
