EUR/USD Testing Short-Term Range Resistance, Breakout Due?

EURUSD has been trading within a well-defined range for most of the month, bound by resistance around 1.1472 and support near 1.1377.

The pair recently staged a sharp rally off the range floor, propelling price all the way up to test the upper boundary, and the reaction here could determine the next directional move.

If resistance gives way, EURUSD could be poised for a measured move higher, with the breakout potentially unlocking additional gains beyond the range top as fresh buyers step in. A close above 1.1472 would confirm the breakout and could open the door toward new highs for the pair.

However, if the ceiling holds firm, a pullback back toward the range support or the moving averages could unfold instead.

The 100 SMA is below the 200 SMA, reflecting the recent downtrend that dominated price action through most of the month, though the gap between the two has been narrowing as the latest rally gains steam. Price is now testing both moving averages from above after reclaiming them during the sharp climb, and these could serve as dynamic support on any retracement.

Stochastic has surged into overbought territory, mirroring the strength of the recent rally, but this also raises the risk of a near-term pullback or consolidation as buyers pause to catch their breath. RSI, meanwhile, is also approaching overbought levels, reinforcing the idea that the pair might need to cool off before attempting another push higher.

Should EURUSD fail to clear resistance and turn lower, a drop back to the moving averages or the range support at 1.1377 could be in store, potentially setting up another bounce if the floor holds. A clean break above resistance, on the other hand, would favor the bulls and could fuel a stronger climb as the range gives way to a new uptrend.
