Kraken Adds US Stocks Alongside Crypto and xStocks
According to an announcement, Kraken has made the new stock trading service available through all its platforms. It includes its mobile app and Kraken Pro on both desktop and mobile. Furthermore. the expansion of services allows eligible EEA residents to access shares of US companies listed on major exchanges including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, and American Stock Exchange (AMEX).
The newly available stocks can be held alongside more than 600 crypto assets and over 700 xStocks, which Kraken is already offering since 2025. These xStocks represent tokenized versions of US equities and are backed 1:1 by their underlying shares. Unlike traditional stocks, xStocks can also be transferred to self-custody wallets and traded beyond conventional market hours.
Kraken Provides Commission-Free US Stock Trading
Kraken said the expansion makes it the only crypto-native platform offering traditional US stocks and their tokenized equivalents within the same platform. It is doing this under its Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II) authorization.
The stock trading service is provided through Kraken’s Cyprus-based entity, Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited. Payward Europe is authorized by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). Kraken is offering commission-free stock trading. However, it doesn’t mean users will have to pay nothing. They will incur other costs including regulatory fees and foreign exchange spreads.
The broader EEA rollout comes after a limited launch in Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Customers in eligible markets must accept additional terms and conditions before gaining access to stock trading. With this expansion, Kraken is continuing to broaden its offerings beyond cryptocurrencies. In the longer run, this will help the exchange strengthen its position as a multi-asset trading platform for users across Europe.
