Nordson Corp (NASDAQ:NDSN) Gave Downbeat Forecast

Nordson Corp (NASDAQ:NDSN) stock fell 8.32% (As on December 12, 11:31:59 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company forecast fiscal 2025 revenue below Wall Street estimates, as a slow recovery in electronics and agriculture markets hurt sales for the company’s products. Nordson, which makes spraying equipment for agricultural use, is grappling with a downturn in the market as high borrowing costs and lower crop prices have dented demand for farm equipment. Consumers postponing purchase of big-ticket items amid high inflation has also impacted sales in Nordson’s advanced technology solutions segment that makes packaging tools used in semiconductor production. Adjusted net income was $160 million, an increase from prior year adjusted net income of $156 million. EBITDA in the fourth quarter was $241 million, or 32% of sales, an increase of 4% compared to prior year EBITDA of $227 million, also at 32% of sales. The company has entered fiscal 2025 with approximately $580 million in backlog.

Moreover, Industrial Precision Solutions sales of $392 million decreased 3% compared to the prior year fourth quarter, driven by a 5% organic sales decrease, a favorable acquisition impact of 1%, and a favorable currency impact of 1%. Medical and Fluid Solutions sales of $200 million increased 19% compared to the prior year fourth quarter, driven primarily by the acquisition of Atrion, which offset an organic sales decrease of 3% and a favorable currency impact of 1%. Advanced Technology Solutions sales of $152 million increased 5% compared to the prior year fourth quarter, driven by an organic sales increase of 4% and a favorable currency impact of 1%.
