Wherever you are, being a leader is an honor. However, as a leader you are faced with different climates from one day to another. In the current political climate, definition of leadership becomes more complicated and confusing. Actually, you can see leadership style of your boss from how he manages the organization as a whole.
In fact, many leaders do not use their position, as they should. Instead of using their role to organize the company into a better condition, they position themselves as the only-man who has the power to give instruction. Look at the leadership style of your boss. If you see that he/she is a really bully, this is the time to re-think your future with the company.
How to Recognize Negative Leadership Style of Your Boss
The following are some ways to see whether your boss has a positive or negative leadership style:

Having Hidden Personal Agendas
A bully leader may intentionally create a negative disruption in the management. He/she will benefit from the mess to support his/her own hidden agendas. Such a leader enjoys chaos and falsely offers a solution to show others that he has the true power. Then, he will influence others to support his personal agendas.
By taking a control over the intentionally created conflicts, bully leaders make it unlikely for others to have influential roles. The leaders make as if the others do not care about the internal conflicts. In such a situation, the bullies are in command and others do not have a choice but to do what they are asked to.
Creating Uncertainty and Discomfort
Bully bosses are experienced in creating discomfort in their departments or even in the organization as a whole. Uncertainty may be related to strategic decisions, strategic partnerships, or even promotion. The bully bosses may avoid important meetings, thus leaving the employees in uncertain positions. Sometimes, they refuse to make important decisions by giving false reasons.
As a result, the employees and other managers (if any) keep waiting. In the worse conditions, the bully leaders may personally communicate with an employee and give instructions, while other employees do not know them. In the end, discomfort among the employees may end up with conflicts.
Partnership with Leeches and Loafers
Aside from the leadership style, there are actually four types of people in both life and business. They are leeches, loafers, lifters, and leaders. The first two types tend to have negative meaning while the last two types are more positive. Bully leaders tend to associate with the first two. Loafers and leeches are identical with people with lack of self-confidence.
They are jealous of others who succeed in doing their job. They may use others’ ideas and claim them as their own ideas. This is because such individuals are not creative enough to find original ideas.
Today’s workplace needs originality, creativity, capabilities and strengths. A boss with a positive leadership style must be able to think creatively and find original ideas to grow the company. Those signs of bully leaders may not be the signs of apocalypse. However, you may need to stay away from such leaders.
