Oil prices rise and expansion of Brent crude, the highest in 4 months

Oil prices rallied as the US market opened on Tuesday to continue gains for a second day in a row, with US crude hitting an eight-week high and Brent crude hitting a four-month high as concerns about US production in the Gulf of Mexico stall as Gordon, With concern over Iran’s supplies slowing after partial US sanctions.


By 12:45 GMT US crude rose to $ 71.25 a barrel from the opening level $ 70.11, and recorded the highest level of $ 71.38 since July 13, the lowest level of 69.98 $.

Brent crude rose to $ 79.50 per barrel from the opening level of $ 78.19, recording a high of $ 79.70 since May 24 and a low of $ 77.98.


US crude hit a 0.3% gain on Monday, the third gain in four days, and Brent crude rose 0.5%, with a focus on the possibility of slowing supply from Iran.

Global oil prices rose by an average of 2% over last week’s trading, the second weekly gain in a row, as fears of oversupply in the market subsided.

In the United States, Anadarko Petroleum said on Monday it had dismantled and closed production at two drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico before the tropical storm Gordon, which is expected to turn into a hurricane at the coast, is approaching.

Oil traders have been focusing on the prospect of a slowdown in Iranian oil supplies following a partial US sanctions in early August, and supplies will fall further in November after full sanctions are in place.

Some international reports indicated that Iran’s exports actually fell by about 700,000 barrels in the first half of August, compared with exports in July.
