Acuity Trading Officially Opens a New R&D Hub in Spain

Acuity Trading, a financial technology company, has announced that it will be launching a new R&D Centre in Spain. The centre will consolidate technical expertise in machine learning and data science to improve the firm’s technological capability.

According to the CEO of Acuity, Andrew Lane, he signed the constitution for Acuity Analytics at the beginning of June.

“We continue to lead the fintech market with alpha-generating alternative data and highly engaging trading tools using the latest in AI research and technology. To maintain this momentum and meet the need for new, future-focused technologies to support the evolving fintech market, it is essential to invest and create an R&D collaborative hub that will enable us to fast track the development of successful technologies”. Lane added.

Foster Collaboration

The new centre in Spain will be used as a hub for fostering collaboration between Acuity’s industrial experts and its team of professionals located at the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC). It will help the firm achieve the objective of the sustainable collaboration between the academic and corporate sector.

The hub in Barcelona will also create an advanced working environment that will consolidate UPC partners from Acuity and allow the easy transition of R&D innovations from academic sectors to the market. It will also enable the firm to create innovative, cutting-edge technologies that will benefit the entire global fintech market.

“We are very excited about the impact that this hub will have on our future prospects as we continue to strengthen our research with the assistance of our best Engineering and Mathematics graduates,” the firm stated.

Spain is a Strategic Location

According to the firm, they selected Spain as their new hub to leverage the talent and potential available. Establishing a new centre in Spain would fulfil a long-term goal for the firm to have an industrial lab linked with the faculty by using research.

Besides, Spain also launched a 10-year strategic plan that will transform the country into an entrepreneurial zone by 2030. The objective created a rare opportunity for Acuity Trading. The strategic plan for the country attracted new talent to the region, enhanced scalability and promoted innovations in the public sector.

The addition of this new hub in Spain also comes at a critical time for the firm as it finalizes the acquisition of Signal Centre by the Acuity Trading division based in London. In April, Acuity Trading entered into a three-way partnership with Equity Group, a multi-asset brokerage firm.
