Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT) opens in green on positive fourth quarter

Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT) stock rose over 0.8% on August 11th, 2017 (as of 10:11AM EDT; Source: Google finance). For 2018, the group expects a sales rise in the range of 3.0% to 5.0% and expects earnings per share in the range of $3.00 to $3.20 per share. The group remains focused on adding new clients while positioned well in various channels to market, like 70+ Fluid Power sales and service facilities; 430+ local Service Centers; digital and printed catalog; Maintenance Supplies & Solutions® vendor managed inventory specialists; and their Applied.com e-commerce site. The group’s ongoing improvements and better technical value-added capabilities paid off and expect the similar momentum for 2018.

Applied Industrial Technologies Net sales enhanced 7.5% yoy to $681.5 million during the fourth quarter of 2017 from $634.0 million in the same period last year. Organic growth was 7.9% during the quarter. Net income reached $53.0 million, or $1.34 per share during the quarter from $26.1 million, or $0.66 per share, in the same quarter last year. Net sales rose 2.9% yoy to $2.59 billion for the fiscal year of 2017 from $2.52 billion in the prior corresponding year. Net income reached $133.9 million, or $3.40 per share, from $29.6 million, or $0.75 per share, in 2016.  Cash and cash equivalents reached $105 million as of June 2017.

The group returned >$50 million to shareholders via dividends and share repurchases. They bought back 162,500 shares for $8.2 million and had remaining authorization to purchase 1,450,000 additional shares as of June 2017. On the other hand, Applied Industrial Technologies stock lost over 11.1% in the last three months. Pine River Capital Management cut their stake in the group by 52.53% as per their recent SEC filing and sold 9,600 shares. The group appointed Robert J. Pagano, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Watts Water Technologies, Inc., as well as Joe A. Raver, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hillenbrand, Inc., as Board of Directors.
