Bitcoin ($BTC) ecosystem is reportedly witnessing an excessive absorption by retail holders. The data from Glassnode discloses that the retail Bitcoin holders’ absorption levels have increased to a significant level, surpassing the levels of production by miners. The on-chain analytics firm shared insights into the ongoing concerns regarding a supply squeeze in the near term.

Retail Bitcoin Holders Continue Absorbing More $BTC Than Production by Miners
Glassnode’s data indicates that the minor retail $BTC holders, including the categories of “Fish,” “Crabs,” and “Shrimps,” are continuously accumulating. In other words, the wallets holding 100 $BTC or less are engaged in aggressive accumulation. Hence, their accumulation levels have surged to the levels that are substantially greater than the levels of $BTC production by miners.
In this respect, the aforementioned Bitcoin wallet categories have jointly absorbed a staggering 19,300 $BTC over the past month. On the other hand, the 30-day miner issuance is still limited to only 13,400 $BTC. The respective pace of absorption highlights a net per-month shortfall of approximately 6,000 $BTC. Thus, this suggests a persistent accumulation that is massively squeezing the $BTC supply.

Based on the market data, the smaller Bitcoin investors, who were once categorized as peripheral part of the market, have shown a considerable shift. Now, they are actively accumulating $BTC while acting as a combined macro force, absorbing more Bitcoin supply than what is being generated. Some market onlookers are of the view that such accumulation trends often take place before key price movements. Therefore, the current scenario signifies the potentially impending liquidity shifts.
Long-Term Bitcoin Holders Also Engage in Wide-Scale Accumulation
In line with Glassnode’s data, the collective Bitcoin accumulation by the minor BTC holders raises huge concerns about a supply squeeze. Particularly, the increased absorption levels have played a notable role in decreasing the Bitcoin liquidity on crypto exchanges. Moreover, apart from the retail investors, long-term BTC investors are also engaging in accumulation. As a result of this, the market onlookers are cautioning against a large-scale supply squeeze.
