On the 5th of September, the US-based Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETFs witnessed a significant difference in the amount of outflows. According to Spot On Chain, a famous on-chain analytics provider, Bitcoin ETFs saw a $211M in outflow while Ethereum recorded a modest outflow of $0.2M. The analytics platform took to its official social media account on X to provide the details of the outflows.
US BTC ETFs Record a Massive $211M in Net Outflows on the 5th of September
In its exclusive X post, Spot On Chain noted that Fidelity’s Bitcoin ETF (FBTC) went through a massive outflow of nearly $149.5M. In addition to this, 3 other Bitcoin ETFs also experienced outflows, taking into account Bitwise (BITB), Grayscale (GBTC), and Grayscale Mini (BTC). Bitwise (BITB) and Grayscale (GBTC) beheld $30M and $23.2M in net outflows respectively. However, Grayscale Mini (BTC) saw a relatively low outflow of almost $8.4M. The rest of the 7 BTC ETFs witness no flows at all.
Such a staggering amount of withdrawals from Bitcoin ETFs highlights a huge shift in the overall investor sentiment. The lack of exclusive capital inflows into the $BTC ETFs keeps on raising apprehensions. These concerns include a wider decline in investor confidence. Bitcoin ETFs have potentially been experiencing significant pressure. This situation particularly arises at a time when institutional investors are reevaluating positions amid worldwide economic uncertainties.

Ethereum ETFs See a Relatively Smaller Outflow of $0.2M
In the case of Ethereum ETFs, just $0.2M left the market, indicating a modest outflow. Specifically, Grayscale Mini (ETH) emerged as the only $ETH ETF seeing inflows, with the inclusion of $7.2M. Contrarily, Grayscale’s Ethereum ETF (ETHE) witnessed $7.4M in outflows. This outflow overwhelmed the inflows by 0.2M. The rest of the 7 Ethereum ETFs did not record any flows.
The overall Ethereum ETF sector saw a relatively better development. Nevertheless, it still went through negative flows, although on a minor scale. As per Spot On Chain, the Ethereum ETFs have been witnessing negative flows for the past three trading days. In line with the data, despite recording outflows at a smaller scale in comparison with Bitcoin, the Ethereum market is still going through a slight volatility. Moreover, the investors are also showing cautious behavior.
