Cloud stock to watch: salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE: CRM)

salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE: CRM) the stock rose over 1.1% in the pre market session of March 5th, 2019 (Source: Google finance) after the company beat earnings and revenue expectations but issued a weaker-than-expected full-year forecast. The company reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $362 million compared with $206 million in the year-ago period. Cash generated from operations for the fourth quarter was $1.33 billion, an increase of 27% year-over-year. Cash generated from operations for the full fiscal year 2019 was $3.40 billion, an increase of 24% year-over-year. Total cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities ended the fourth quarter at $4.34 billion.

Salesforce is spending a lot of money opening new offices around the world, hiring more workers and buying other businesses over the last year. The company, with a workforce of 35,995 as of Jan. 31, has said it plans to hire about 1,500 new employees in Ireland over the next five years.

CRM in the fourth quarter of FY 18 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 70 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 55 cents, as per the analysts surveyed by FactSet. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 26 percent to $3.6 billion in the fourth quarter of FY 18, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $3.56 billion. The sales pace of Service Cloud, which helps businesses provide customer service or communicate with field workers, also has declined. The unit’s year-over-year increase was 22 percent in the quarter, compared with 24 percent in the fiscal third quarter and 27 percent in the fiscal second quarter.Marketing Cloud revenue growth also slowed in the quarter, due to the product’s reliance on email solutions while brands are focusing more on in-app and push notifications.

For the fiscal first quarter, analysts model adjusted earnings of 63 cents a share on sales of $3.69 billion. Salesforce expects fiscal first-quarter adjusted earnings to be in the range of 60 cents to 61 cents a share and sales of $3.67 billion to $3.68 billion. For the full year 2019, analysts expect adjusted earnings to be of $2.75 a share and sales of $15.97 billion. Salesforce is anticipating the adjusted earnings to be in the range of $2.74 to $2.76 a share and sales to be in the range of $15.95 billion to $16.05 billion. The company expects revenue to be $26 billion to $28 billion by fiscal 2023.
