Constellation Brands Inc (NYSE:STZ) Beat Wall Street Expectations

Constellation Brands Inc (NYSE:STZ) stock rose 6.07% (As on April 9, 11:25:08 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company forecasted its full-year 2027 profit below estimates as it warns of uncertain macro environment ahead. Constellation Brands beat Wall Street estimates for its fourth-quarter sales, helped by steady demand for its beer brands including Corona.

Moreover, Beer showed improving momentum and share gains (Modelo remains the top U.S. beer by dollars) but management warned of limited visibility; Constellation is guiding beer operating margins to 37%–38% this year, citing Veracruz brewery ramp costs and stepped‑up marketing, partially offset by 1%–2% pricing, productivity and hedges on key inputs. Wine and spirits are being reshaped with strong contributions from premium labels, but the category outlook was downgraded (high‑end wine now expected to decline and high‑end spirits to be flat to slightly down), with distributor inventory rebalancing planned throughout the year and medium‑term margins pushed back toward the low‑20s percent range.

STZ in the first quarter of FY 26 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $1.90, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $1.68. The company had reported the adjusted revenue decline of 11 percent to $1.92 billion in the first quarter of FY 26, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $1.84 billion. The company said that its net sales in beer segment increased by over 1% from same quarter last year, helped by shipment growth of 1.1% as favorable pricing, partially offset by unfavorable mix.

The company said it expects comparable earnings per share in the range of $11.20 – $11.90, below Wall Street estimates of $12.44 per share. The company expects a softer near-term setup for its core beer business, with management projecting organic sales growth in a range of down 1% to up 1% for the current fiscal year.

On the other hand, the company in February had said that its Board has appointed Nicholas Fink as the company’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 13, 2026. Fink, a member of Constellation’s Board of Directors since 2021, is going to succeed current President and CEO Bill Newlands who will step down from the CEO role and will continue to serve on the company’s Board.

Meanwhile, the company has recently signed an agreement to acquire the remaining interest in HOPWTR – a fast-growing, premium non-alcoholic brand crafted with hops, adaptogens, and nootropics. The transaction is subject to the satisfaction of certain closing conditions and is expected to close in early April 2026.
