CPRT in the fourth quarter of FY 23 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 34 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 32 cents. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 13 percent to $997.6 million in the fourth quarter of FY 23, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $962.8 million.

Additionally, the company has approved a two-for-one split of its common stock. The stock split will be effected as a stock dividend entitling each stockholder of record to receive one additional share of common stock for every one share owned. Additional shares issued as a result of the stock dividend will be distributed after close of trading on August 21, 2023, to stockholders of record on August 14, 2023. The stock split will increase the number of shares of common stock outstanding from approximately 480.0 million shares to approximately 960.0 million shares.

On the other hand, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority cleared Copart’s completed acquisition of Hills Motors following a review of new evidence in a phase 2 investigation. The British competition watchdog concluded that Hills Motors was not a significant rival to Copart for potential contracts involving vehicle salvage services, which the latter offers for insurance companies.
