Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:DLTR) stock rose 3.77% (As on December 4, 11:33:34 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company reported an upbeat third quarter that beat Street estimates and raised its full-year earnings outlook as its multi-price format continues to attract more higher-income shoppers. Dollar Tree had 3 million more households shop with the chain during the third quarter of this compared to last year. Approximately 60% of these incremental shoppers came from high-income households, those earning over $100,000. The retailer opened 106 Dollar Tree stores during the quarter, and converted approximately 646 stores to its multi-price format. The format includes some higher-margin items at $3, $4, and $5 while preserving the core price point. The discounter’s net income increased 4.8% to $244.6 million for the quarter ended Nov. 1. Gross profit increased 10.8% to $1.7 billion, while gross margin expanded 40 basis points to 35.8%, supported by improved pricing, lower freight costs and a favorable product mix. Same-store net sales increased by 4.2%, driven by a 4.5% increase in average ticket which offset a 0.3% decline in traffic. Year to date generated $958.5 million of net cash provided by operating activities from continuing operations and $88.2 million of free cash flow from continuing operations.
DLTR in the third quarter of FY26 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 15 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 13 cents. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 9.4 percent to $4.74 billion in the third quarter of FY26, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $2.47 billion. Transition services agreement income, net was $23.8 million for services provided between Dollar Tree and Family Dollar following the sale. Adjusted operating income increased 4.1% to $345.3 million and adjusted operating margin decreased 30 basis points to 7.3%.
Additionally, the Company repurchased 4.1 million shares for $399.0 million, including applicable excise tax. Subsequent to quarter end, it purchased an additional 1.7 million shares for $176 million. As of November 1, 2025, the Company had $2.0 billion remaining under the $2.5 billion repurchase authorization, $594.8 million of cash and cash equivalents, $620.0 million of commercial paper notes outstanding, and no borrowings under its credit facilities.
Dollar Tree raised its fiscal 2025 guidance range for adjusted earnings per share to $5.60 to $5.80 from $5.32 to $5.72, and its comparable-store sales growth outlook to 5% to 5.5% from 4% to 6%. The company narrowed its sales outlook to between $19.35 billion and $19.45 billion from between $19.3 billion and $19.5 billion.
