DoorDash Inc (NASDAQ:DASH) Surpasses Wall Street Expectations

DoorDash Inc (NASDAQ:DASH) stock rose 5.28% (As on August 7, 11:21:44 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company raised its forecast for third-quarter orders, surpassing Wall Street expectations and highlighting continued resilience in a period of broader economic uncertainty. Gross order value grew 23% to $24.2 billion, with a record 761 million orders, a growth of 20%, driven by robust performance in US restaurants and expanding engagement in its non-restaurant categories, such as grocery and retail deliveries. The company reported net income of $285 million after recording a loss of $157 million, in the same period a year ago. In our U.S. marketplace in Q2 2025, Y/Y growth in Total Orders accelerated, with notable strength in the U.S. restaurant category. Strong growth in DashPass membership contributed to a Y/Y increase in average order frequency which reached an all-time high in Q2 2025.

Moreover, DoorDash recently went on a multibillion buying spree to boost other parts of its US business, according to the report. The company’s acquisition of UK delivery company Deliveroo is still expected to close during the fourth quarter, which is subject to regulatory approval. Meanwhile, DoorDash has also completed purchases of restaurant tech company SevenRooms Inc. and advertising tech firm Symbiosys, which are expected to bolster its enterprise offerings for restaurants and advertising capabilities for retailers.

DASH in the second quarter of FY25 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of 65 cents, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of 44 cents, according to analysts’ estimates based on LSEG’s consensus. The company had reported the adjusted revenue growth of 25 percent to $3.28 billion in the second quarter of FY25, beating the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $3.16 billion. Adjusted EBITDA increased 52% Y/Y to $655 million from $430 million in Q2 2024. Net Revenue Margin was 13.5% in Q2 2025, up from 13.3% in Q2 2024 and 13.1% in Q1 2025. The Y/Y and Q/Q increases in Net Revenue Margin were due primarily to improved logistics efficiency, increasing contribution from advertising revenue, and a reduction in credits and refunds as a percentage of Marketplace GOV.

The firm expects gross order value between $24.2 billion and $24.7 billion for the three months ending in September, well above the $23.8 billion average estimate compiled by Bloomberg. While DoorDash expects that its adjusted EBITDA will be $680 million to $780 million in the current quarter, the midpoint of which surpasses the average estimate of $718.9 million.
