Euro is resuming its gains against USD, focusing on US interest rates

Euro rose on Wednesday against a basket of world currencies to resume its gains, which were temporarily halted yesterday against USD, to achieve a fourth gain in the last five days as investors focused on the weakness of the possibility of raising US interest rates this year, Powell, head of the Federal Reserve.

Euro was up 0.25% at 08:55 GMT, trading at $ 1.1466, the opening price of $ 1.1439 and a high of $ 1.1478 and a low of $ 1.1436.

EURUSD ended yesterday’s trading down 0.3% , its first loss in four days, on correction and profit taking, and after weak data from Germany renewed fears of a slowing economy in Europe.

The data showed that industrial output in Germany, “Europe’s largest economy”, fell for the third month in a row, a new indicator of weak European economic performance in the fourth quarter of last year.

The dollar index fell more than 0.2% on Wednesday, resuming losses that were temporarily suspended yesterday as part of a 3-month low at 95.18, reversing the greenback against a basket of major and minor currencies.

USD has been under pressure in recent times to weaken the possibility of raising federal interest rates during this year, especially after recent statements by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, in which he pointed out that the US central bank is not on a specific path to raise interest rates and that it will be sensitive to the downside risks of financial markets.
