Exelon Corp (NASDAQ:EXC) Beats Earning Expectations

Exelon Corp (NASDAQ:EXC) stock rose 2.31% (As on February 13, 11:28:00 AM UTC-4, Source: Google Finance) after the company forecast full-year adjusted profit largely above analysts’ expectations after beating fourth-quarter earnings estimates, driven by higher electricity rates and rising power demand. U.S. ​utilities are ‌raising prices and stepping up capital ​expenditure to boost infrastructure, to keep pace with the surge in power demand from ‌tech giants that are racing ⁠to build data centers to ​support advanced and complex artificial intelligence-related tasks. Exelon projected $41.3 billion of capital expenditure over the next four years, from $38 billion previously, resulting in expected rate base growth of 7.9% and operating EPS compounded annual growth near the top end of 5-7% from 2025-2029. Net income at its ‌Commonwealth Edison unit (ComEd), the largest electric utility in Illinois, rose ‌slightly to $244 million in ⁠the fourth quarter. Earnings at Exelon’s ‌PECO unit, Pennsylvania’s largest electric and natural gas utility, fell nearly 17% to $162 million due to higher taxes and costs. All utilities achieved first quartile performance in System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), with ComEd landing in top decile for both SAIDI and System Average Interruption Frequency Index

Further, the company updated 4-year financing plan to include $3.4 billion of equity to fund capital expenditures, in line with a balanced funding strategy of funding incremental capital with approximately 40% equity, implying $850 million in annualized equity needs per year, with 82% of 2026 needs priced under forwards.

EXC in the fourth quarter of FY25 has reported the adjusted earnings per share of $0.59, beating the analysts’ estimates for the adjusted earnings per share of $0.53, according to Zacks Investment Research. The company had reported the adjusted revenue of $5.41 billion in the fourth quarter of FY25, missing the analysts’ estimates for revenue of $5.54 billion.

Additionally, the company declared a regular quarterly dividend of $0.42 per share on Exelon’s common stock. The dividend is payable on March 13, 2026, to Exelon shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 2, 2026.

The Chicago-based ‌company forecast 2026 adjusted profit between $2.81 ‌and $2.91 per share, compared with analysts’ average estimate of $2.84 per share, according ‌to ‌data compiled by LSEG. With a $41.3 billion four-year capital plan and 7.9% rate ‌base growth, the company is well-positioned to deliver annualized earnings growth near the top end of 5% to ‌7% through 2029.
