Forex Technical Major Pairs Analysis | January 12, 2026

USDX (USD Index)

The U.S. Dollar Index initially held firm after closing above its daily SMA 200 and the 98.97 region, shifting the broader tone to neutral–bullish. However, the index has retreated during today’s session, suggesting a reaction to growing uncertainty surrounding Jerome Powell following reports that the U.S. Department of Justice has taken action related to the Federal Reserve leadership.

The intraday pullback indicates that the bear are attempting to fade the recent bullish close, with the dollar potentially ending the day closer to its daily SMA 200. While the broader structure has improved, near-term price action remains sensitive to headlines, keeping the dollar in a consolidation phase rather than a clean bullish continuation.

EUR/USD

EUR/USD has rebounded sharply from recent lows, but upside momentum remains capped below 1.1710. The inability to clear this level suggests that the recovery may stall for now, keeping the pair in a corrective phase rather than a full trend reversal. As long as price remains below 1.1710, the broader structure favors consolidation or renewed downside attempts. A clear break above this level would be needed to open the door for a stronger bullish continuation.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 1.1580, 1.1500, 1.1360, 1.1300

Resistance: 1.1710, 1.1820

GBP/USD

GBP/USD has pushed back above 1.3450, and intraday price action is forming a bullish engulfing structure, though confirmation will depend on the daily close. If the pair manages to hold above this level into the end of the session, it would strengthen the case for further upside attempts. Failure to sustain above 1.3450 before the close would keep the pair vulnerable to renewed bearish pressure.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 1.3330, 1.3300, 1.3250

Resistance: 1.3450, 1.3600

USD/JPY

USD/JPY continues to extend higher during the session, with no change to the broader bullish outlook. Momentum remains supportive, and the pair is pressing toward higher resistance levels. Upside focus remains on 158.894, followed by 159.63 and 160.00, while pullbacks are still considered corrective. On the lower side, the green box area is the major support area to watch.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 155.50, 155.00, 153.00, 151.00

Resistance: 158.89, 160.00

AUD/USD

AUD/USD is showing a bullish reversal intraday, climbing back above 0.6700 and signaling renewed buying interest. The pair is attempting to re-establish its broader bullish trend, though confirmation will depend on whether it can maintain these gains into the close. Holding above 0.6700 keeps the bullish continuation scenario valid, while a drop back below the level would suggest indecision.

Today’s critical levels to watch:

Support: 0.6600, 0.6560, 0.6500

Resistance: 0.6700, 0.6750, 0.6820
