Following the disastrous loss of the previous trading day, the British pound (GBP) gained ground today, reaching a value of more than 1.3300 against the US dollar (USD).
Since the beginning of the month, the GBP/USD currency pair has been declining, and the gross domestic product (GDP) has aided the pair’s price.

On December 22, 2021, National Statistics will announce the third-quarter GDP figure. Economists predicted that GDP would increase by 1.3 percent in the third quarter while remaining unchanged from the previous quarter, but it actually increased by 1.1 percent.
The GDP is a measure of the total value of all products and services produced in the United Kingdom. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a comprehensive measure of economic activity in the United Kingdom. A rising trend is advantageous to the GBP, whilst a descending trend is detrimental (or bearish).
However, there is hope from the US Department of Labor, which will provide data on initial unemployment claims, which experts expect will be 205,000 this month, with no change from the prior month.
The number of people filing first-time claims for state unemployment insurance is referred to as initial jobless claims. It acts as a gauge of the labor market’s health. A higher-than-expected figure reflects market weakness, which has an impact on the health and direction of the US economy.
Conclusion
If we look at the GBP/USD currency pair’s market behavior over the last few days, we can see that the stock has been falling steadily, and its market may continue gloomy for some time.
