On the 28th of April, Mastercard Inc. shared the intention to expand its partnership with different firms for the sake of cryptocurrency payments. Raj Dhamodharan, the MasterCard’s head of blockchain and crypto shared his views in this regard. He said that Mastercard is going to expand its partnerships with crypto firms for enhanced and better cryptocurrency card payments. He was of the view that the crypto industry is flourishing day by day and so the firm will grow following the same stream.
Mastercard Inc. in Crypto Space
Mastercard In. is the world’s second-largest card payment processing corporation that provides different financial services. It also offers systematic and reliable services for crypto payments. Till now it has made several strategic partnerships with Gemini, Nexo, and Binance for crypto payments in different countries. Mastercard facilitates the withdrawal of their crypto assets reserved on exchanges in their traditional currencies.
Raj Dhamodharan said in his statements that several partners out there are offering the same card programs for cryptocurrencies. And offering services to the crypto community is their foremost proposition and hence they are gladly doing that. Many banks got tired of crypto clients and stepped back due the past incidents like the crypto market’s collapse and the bankruptcy of FTX. Moreover, a few exchanges also had to face tough circumstances. But we are optimistic as US regulatory authorities keep on cracking down to cope with the matter.
Recent Activities
Back in March 2023, US watchdogs sued the world-leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance and its CEO for willful evasion. Moreover, Binance was called by regulators by the name of sham and illegal exchange upon which Changpeng Zhao justified well. He said that all accusations were made based on incomplete information and facts. Raj Dhamodharan denied to comment but assured that all operations are being monitored.
Few other banks are also working for crypto payments. Two prominent banks NatWest and Santander have put limits to crypto payments for transference in order to avoid fraud and scams. Visa Inc. the prominent rival of Mastercard also signed a contract with FTX. Back in 2021, American Express (AXP.N) also showed interest in crypto space and payments.
